Pre-sessional English Courses

The Centre for Academic English runs intensive preparatory English language and study courses for prospective students of the College throughout the summer. The courses are STEM-focused and run  for 12, 6 or 3 weeks. They are designed to improve students' academic English language and literacy and to help students make a smooth transition into academic study in the UK and enhance their experience as a student at Imperial. All three courses are full-time, with classes and activities from 09.30-17.00 Mondays-Fridays as well as some evening and weekend social events and trips. The 12- and 6-week courses are open to postgraduates and are for applicants who have not quite met the English language entry condition of their offer. There is still time this week for applicants whose English is below the entry requirement for your postgraduate programme to apply for one of the last few places on the 12-week course, and there are still several weeks for students to apply for the 6-week cour...

Overseas travel for student summer projects

Please find below, a link to a flow chart highlighting steps that need to be taken in case of students planning to travel abroad in relation to course works, such as the summer projects. In case of any travel that your students may have planned in relation to the summer projects, please ensure that the flow chart has been duly consulted and that the appropriate measures have been taken. We have emailed the students to take up primary responsibility in this regard, but supervisors would also need to ensure that students have followed through with this. The flow chart contains links to the Travel Advice Office, providing further clarifications of the requirements that need to be fulfilled in relation to specific  travel plans. If you have any questions, please contact one of the MPH Course Organisers. http://www.imperial.ac.uk/media/imperial-college/administration-and-support-services/safety/internal/off-site-working/Fieldwork-Travel-Flow-Chart-Dec-2015-v13.pdf

Applying for the 2016-17 Imperial College MPH Programme

Thank you for your interest in the Imperial College MPH programme. The 2016 -17 MPH course starts in October 2016. Applications for entry opened in November 2015. I cannot tell you at this stage whether you will be eligible for the MPH because the decision is made by the Admissions Team when they have an opportunity to view your degree results and IELTS score (if relevant). We generally require a First Class or Upper Second Class degree from a good university, or a medical degree. A good personal statement about why you want to undertake the MPH course is essential. Previous public health experience is also helpful. You should take the opportunity to find out more about public health, for example, from the  FPH website  ( www.fph.org.uk ). We have several international student societies at Imperial to provide students with some peer support away from their home country. Do check out the visa rules before you apply if you intend to stay in the UK after the MPH a...
